Who We Are
Little Thistle Floral Design is a boutique floral design studio specializing in weddings. We prioritize locally-grown flowers and greenery, as well as environmentally conscious materials and methods. Our style is best described as natural and romantic.
Best Fit
Our ideal clients are getting married in Nova Scotia between May and October. They are looking to support local flower farmers and reduce the carbon footprint of their wedding flowers. It is important to them that their florist uses sustainable and reusable methods and materials wherever possible. They have a general style and colour palette in mind, but are open to the specifics based on seasonal availability.
The Process
During the complimentary initial consultation, we will walk through the floral design process together. We will help you choose your wedding florals to best suit your wedding based on your date, venue, décor choices and personal style.
Don't know where to start? Have no idea what you want for flowers? No problem! This is a step-by-step process where we will tell you everything you need to know. Just bring some inspiration photos (if you have any) and any details about your wedding (bridesmaid dress colour, décor choices, etc.) and we will take it from there.

Hi! I'm Jessie, it's nice to meet you! My journey with flowers began in 2015 when I completed an apprenticeship at one of the top flower shops in Ottawa - Mood Moss Flowers. After moving to Nova Scotia, I opened Little Thistle Floral Design in 2018 and have been happily creating floral arrangements for weddings and events ever since! My floral studio is based in Halifax but I have serviced all of Nova Scotia and beyond. I truly love what I do. I design with my heart and my arrangements are often described as natural and romantic. I enjoy working with colour and incorporating unique and modern takes on floral design. Sustainability is important to me. Nova Scotia is budding with flower farmers whose amazing product I use whenever I can. There is nothing quite as exciting to me as designing a wedding using all locally grown flowers and greenery. When I am not designing in my studio, you can likely find me at home with my best buddy - my English bulldog Louie.
From Exchanging Rings to Exchanging Keys
Did you know - I am also a licensed REALTOR® with EXIT Realty Metro? Working with couples is my favourite part of my job (both as a florist and as a realtor). Making lasting connections with my couples is something that I treasure. It warms my heart when I am able to be a small part of their big day and then turn around and help them with their next big milestone - their first home!

Jessie did the flowers for my wedding, and I am still in awe over her work and how beautifully it all came together. From the first meeting to discuss vision, I knew I was in good hands. She offered an expertise that put me right at ease. Jessie created a detailed plan and worked with me to ensure no detail was left out. Jessie created the florals for my elopement this winter. I told Jessie to create what she wanted with whites and greens. Jessie was a wonderful florist! We were a bit unsure about what we wanted for florals at our wedding, and sheepishly admitted as much at our first meeting with Jessie. She was unfazed by our indecision, and guided us through the process with total ease, showing us different flower options for our budget, and suggesting colour schemes and arrangements.
